Two castles. One harbour. Five centuries of history.
This guided experience explores the twin fortresses that once protected the entrance to the Fal Estuary and one of the world’s finest natural harbours.

Beginning at Pendennis Castle, built by Henry VIII as part of a chain of coastal defences, we explore dramatic headland views, maritime history and stories of conflict that shaped Cornwall’s coastline.
A passenger ferry then carries us across the harbour to St Mawes Castle. Smaller but equally important, it worked alongside Pendennis to guard the estuary against attack while overlooking the busy waters below.

Combining coastal scenery, ferry travel and fascinating military history, Castle to Castle offers a unique introduction to Falmouth Harbour and the landscapes that have defined Cornwall’s relationship with the sea for centuries.
