..to the Ends of the Earth

in the footsteps of my vagabond sculptor grandmother, Kathleen

In 1913 my paternal grandmother Kathleen

sailed to New Zealand to meet her husband, Captain Scott

returning from the South Pole.. only learning en route that he and his companions had died

Boiling with the same blood, a century on I too washed up on that same shore

Broken-hearted in the slipstream of a Peter Pan

Using installation, performance, casts of Kathleen’s sculptures, moving images & sound

I am asking

What forms are left us by our ancestors?

What are we leaving the generations still to come?

Thanks to Gregor Richards for the photo, taken at Port Chalmers, 2013. Inset is K. Scott, pictured seeing her husband off.
